Keeping people in their place
Article Abstract:
Labor migration from Palestine to Israel has involved a complex permit system since 1993, and this has reduced the number of migrants, hitting the Palestine economy. Both the Israeli Likud and Labor parties are not keen to seen an independent economy develop in Palestine, and Palestinian trade usually travels through Israel, or is with Israel itself. Links between the West Bank and Gaza have not been allowed to develop, and two economies are developing separately.
