Kinmen Island locals want China to see hot spot as a cool place
Article Abstract:
Kinmen Island is one of several Taiwanese islands located near China which has continually borne the brunt of tensions between the two nations. During the recent Chinese military exercises preceeding the Taiwanese presidential elections, however, most of Kinmen Islands residents remained calm. Moreover, some hope that relations between the two nations will normalize to allow them to transform their island into a major tourist destination for both Chinese and foreign travelers.

China shows calculating posture even as it fires missile
Article Abstract:
China has modified its approach toward resolving the Taiwan question. Instead of using purely military maneuvers, China has also begun initiating peace talks with Taiwanese leaders to contain the increased tension between the two countries. The strategy is also seen as a ploy to prevent further US intervention. It even warned the US of the launching of an unarmed missile in one its its military exercises in the Taiwan strait to prevent any misunderstanding of its actions.
