Tango from Romford
Article Abstract:
The tango is an Argentine dance form which reflects the yearning for a lost past, according to Nicholas Tozer, who has written about subject and who is studying the Malvinas war for a PhD. Tozer has family links with Argentina. He sees a yearning for Argentina's arcadia prior to mass immigration, and for countries that the immigrants came from. He is interested in Argentine slang, one which many tango lyrics are based. He sees street life as providing a useful education.
