Kovona averts bankruptcy
Article Abstract:
Kovona Karvina (KK) (Karvina, Czech Republic), engineering firm, expects proceeds of about 500 mil Kc in 1999. The firm's proceeds increased to 2 bil Kc in 1998 compared to 537.711 mil Kc in 1997. A reason for the growth was a fact that KK ensured purchasing services for some affiliated firms of the group Z-Group (Prague, Czech Republic), mainly for Zelezarny Veseli (Veseli nad Moravou, Czech Republic), in 1998. KK saw a net profit of 66.1 mil Kc in 1998 compared to a loss of more than 98 mil Kc in 1997. The firm increased its owned capital from 213.11 mil Kc to 279.27 mil Kc during 1998. The sum is more than 50% of the firm's stock, which is 495.315 mil Kc. KK averted a danger of bankruptcy proceedings by the step. KK will not participate in the purchasing activities of the whole Z-Group in 1999.

NH has averted a danger
Article Abstract:
Nova hut (NH) (Ostrava, Czech Republic), metallurgy company, has invested 33 mil Kc in new casting technology. The company has replaced the expensive production of moulds by sand mixtures with the utilisation of furane mixtures based on two-component organic resin. The consumption of coking gas decreased 10-times and the cycle of the preparation of moulds was shortened due to the step. The price of the firm's foundry production decreased. NH has taken new consumers for its foundry production in the Czech Republic and abroad and has averted a danger of the closure of its plant. The company's foundry, which has about 400 employees, saw a loss worth several dozens of millions of Czech crowns in 1996.
