How to find a lawyer
Article Abstract:
Small businesses need access to lawyers so that they can conform to current British and European legislation. The Law Society, in the UK, has enlistd 1,650 lawyers who will specialise in small business issues and companies can get an initial consultation free of charge. Employment law, contracts, finance and health and safety legislation can be discussed. Managers are advised to consider what type of advice they need, choose a lawyer who specialises in this, get estimates for the costs of additional consultations and keep the lawyer updated about their business affairs.

Riders in the storm
Article Abstract:
The Prince's Youth Business Trust has provided funding and support for 35,000 people aged between 18 and 30 to form their own businesses since 1987. These businesses, of which an average of 60% are still trading after three years, have created more than 60,000 jobs. A key element in the success of the new businesses is the mentoring system, under which Trust volunteers advise those setting up their own businesses. Mentors mainly come from banks and consultancies at present, but the Trust is looking to involve small business owners too.
