Loss adjusters
Article Abstract:
Russian insurers were taken by surprise when the government abolished 60% of their assets, part of which have to be held in state debt denominated in rubles. Many insurers have ceased to pay claims. Hospitals have been hit and they already have to pay more for imported supplies. Russia is unlikely to have a proper insurance industry for some time. Insurers are seeking compensation for the losses that they have suffered from government bonds, and wish for looser capital requirements.
