Lot sizing and scheduling: survey and extensions
Article Abstract:
Research on production planning and scheduling problems such as field lot sizing led to the development of mathematical programming models for the development of solutions and options. The continuous time model for economic lot scheduling problems evaluates possible options based on decision variables such as product inventory and production quantity based on dynamic demand conditions. On the other hand, multi-level lot sizing and scheduling develops realistic solutions to production planning based on general gozinto structures and multiple machines.

Extensions of coloring models for scheduling purposes
Article Abstract:
Chromatic scheduling models based on the open-shop model are applied to simultaneity and resource constraints generated in the scheduling of automated manufacturing systems or in the development of timetables. In this context, simple models and polynomial algorithms are surveyed and samples are studied which are not related to flexible manufacturing systems. This is because fundamental models relating to these problems are nearly identical. In addition, both issues exhibit the same cyclic scheduling.

The combinatorics of timetabling
Article Abstract:
Combinatorial optimization models for solving timetabling problems are discussed. Specifically, class-teacher timetabling problems with unavailability constraints and compactness requirements are represented as coloring problems in graphs. Likewise, the application of the tabu search procedure for finding feasible schedules under room availability, lecture overlaps and other constraints is described.
