MARRIOTT HAS BIG PLANS FOR INDIAN MARKET
Article Abstract:
Marriott Worldwide Corporation (MWC) proposes to establish hotels in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Calcutta. The hotels will be set up within the next three years. MWC also proposes to set up a hotel at Panjim in Goa. This hotel is aimed at both the leisure and corporate customers. MWC proposes to enter the Indian hospitality market either on a management contract agreement or on a franchise. It proposes to have two hotels in Delhi - one at Ansals in South Delhi and another in East Delhi. The 5-star deluxe JW Marriott will have about 225 rooms and will start its operations by the end of 1999. MWC's hotel chain includes Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, Marriott and the Marriott Resort. MSIL PLANS TO ENTER CONSUMER DURABLE RETAILING BUSINESS

Mysore Sales International Ltd (MSIL) a trading firm intends to do the retailing of consumer durable business. MSIL will set up a cold storage facility for storing floriculture products at Bangalore airport with an investment of Rs1.5 crore. The company has posted a net profit of Rs11 crore on a turnover of Rs274 crore for 1997-98. Its air cargo wing has contributed Rs12.73 crore to its turnover by handling 28,134 tonnes of cargo. It markets Lekhak and Vidya brand of note books. Its paper division posted sales of Rs21 crore for 1997-98. (gs)

B&C TO DEVELOP PROPERTY TO FUND EXPANSION PLANS

Best & Crompton Engineering Ltd (BCEL) plans to develop its Rs46 crore worth prime property in Chennai. The move is aimed at raising working capital for Best & Crompton and its subsidiaries as a part of the expansion activities. BCEL will be transferring the property to one of the holding companies of Best & Crompton for joint development of the property. It proposes to set aside a portion of the land got its use and use rest of the land for constructing service apartments. (ag)
