Malaysian government's controls perplex fund managers
Article Abstract:
A number of fund investment companies dealing with Malaysian-dedicated funds are in a dilemma on how to manage such funds due to the recent capital control implemented by the Malaysian government. Singapore-based Aberdeen Asset Management is considering what options to take in liquidating its holdings. Some companies are considering suspending fund transactions as the best possible solution to the dilemma. Jarding Fleming Unit Trusts withheld trading in most of its equity funds.
