Manager of Sri Lanka fund touts banks amid doubts

Thornton Management fund mgr. Pernille Svensson believes that Sri Lanka's banking sector is the best investment option in the country. Svensson states that the Sri Lankan banking industry will continue to thrive regardless of the state of the national economy. This view has prompted Svensson to restructure the $2 million portfolio of the open-ended Thornton New Tiger Select Sri Lanka Fund to focus on banks and financial stocks.

Regent sets its sights on new targets after selling stake in China Assets fund
Article Abstract:
Regent Fund Management Ltd. sold its 10% interest in China Assets Holding Ltd. and is considering new investments in other closed-end mutual funds. The sale of the its shares in the China Assets allowed Regent to generate an estimated $1 million in profits. Like most of its targets, China Assets criticized Regent's strategy of buying into undervalued funds and liquidating them to generate profits.
