Measuring the quality of computer model performance
Article Abstract:
Computer intensive statistical methods which include enumeration and randomization are used to evaluate the performance of human experts against computer models. The results show that there is only a small difference between the computer system model and human experts in the quality of the decision making process and output. However, there was a significant difference between the two in terms of quantity of the output due to the fact that the system is much faster than humans.

On bankruptcy information systems
Article Abstract:
A model has been developed which aims to combine the signal from an information system for predicting bankruptcy with a basic model for such predictions. Indications are that the model is reliable, and the conclusion is that information system relaibility ought to form part of bankruptcy models to optimize decision making, such as the availability and timing of loans. Heuristics employed by those taking decisions to asses reliability could also mislead.

The impact of semantic ambiguity on Bayesian weights
Article Abstract:
The evidence categorization problem and its impact on Bayesian expert system weights was investigated. The problem, which is otherwise known as semantic ambiguity, arises from different semantic interpretations of a data set during expert system usage. Using a probability distribution model, it is demonstrated that semantic ambiguity leads to significant differences in the resulting Bayesian AL/X weights for the rules.
