Millennial economics
Article Abstract:
The Year 2000 computer transition problem will have an economic impact simply due to the uncertainty it causes, and this will start in 2nd half 1999. Some repair work will bring longer-term benefits from the replacement of equipment and software. Productivity growth will slow since time will be diverted to tackling the problem. There is disagreement as to whether the problem will lead to recession. The problem could aggravate a downturn and there will be disruption world wide.
