Minimal interiors for maximum sales
Article Abstract:
The series of shop interiors designed by Eva Jiricna Architects for German menswear producer Hugo Boss takes an elegant and minimalist approach aimed at attracting younger customers. The design contrasts with the traditional view that a comfortable and warm design will make customers comfortable and will boost sales. Eva Jiricna's interiors allow the clothes to take precedence. The Hugo interiors have an understated, hard-edged design using monochrome materials, suggesting masculinity. The Hugo identity is maintained by all shops using the same materials, rail system and shelving.

Dulwich phoenix
Article Abstract:
The challenge of building a new church in Dulwich, London, England, to replace the previous church which burnt down in a fire in 1993 was initially daunting for the architects. The new church, which cost 1.6 million pounds sterling, needed to combine a religious building with symbolic elements and a functional meeting place. Although some details are traditional, the innovatory glass spire is modern in design and with the use of temporary screens the church can be opened out to seat up to 650 people.
