Slovenia is too reliant on its past economic successes, and should focus on further improving the economy after its elections. Though it has some privatization, it needs more, and it must address its slowing industrial production and rising unemployment.

The Alpine former Yugoslav republic of Slovenia has escaped the economic ruin and wars of its neighbors to become the most successful ex-communist economy. Its stable currency, low inflation and high standard of living are the envy of the region.
