NAGARJUNA, MAYTAS, GVK PLAN LNG UNIT
Article Abstract:
GVK Industries, Nagarjuna and Maytas Infra of the Satyam group have formed a consortium to set up a captive liquefied natural gas (LNG) regassification terminal at Kakinada port. The project is to have a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per annum. The consortium has asked the Andhra Pradesh government for allocation of land at the port and in-principle clearance so that work on the project can begin immediately. The pre-feasibility report on the LNG terminal project has been done by MW Kellog of the UK. The consortium plans to set up a joint venture to implement the project and bring in another major international company operating in the LNG sector. The main objective in setting up the terminal is to use it as fuel and feedstock buffer in the respective operations of the consortium companies. (khr)
