Netherlands: Divorce costs Netherlands 1mn children
Article Abstract:
According to the CBS, the Dutch central statistics office, the Netherlands would have had 1mn more inhabitants if it had not been for divorces and broken relationships. Per generation about 150,000 'lost children' are not born and as these 'virtual children' do not have children themselves the final total since 1950 is over 1mn lost children. The study had intended to examine the effects of increased personal freedom such as the increasing number of women in employment, the range of the contraceptive pill and the divorce rate.
