New balls please
Article Abstract:
Computer chips are expensive to produce and Ball Semiconductor is developing a way of producing spherical chips, rather than flat chips. This could cut costs in chip production, and spherical chips could perform more functions than flat chips. Other techniques for making semiconductors will have to be altered if this new method is to be successful. Founder of Ball Semiconductor, Akira Ishikawa, believes that the company is able to fund a solution.

Silicon Waves
Article Abstract:
Russian scientists have come up with a product closer to superconductor status than other products previously made public. The superconductor device is based on silicon coated with an ultrathin coating of metal and is said to increase conductivity tenfold. The research has not been made public as the theoretical physicists and other entities may disrupt research activities in an attempt to disprove their findings.

Crossed lines: microprocessors
Article Abstract:
Plasma & Materials Technologies has developed a prototype insulation for microprocessors that could significantly reduce cross-talk caused by transistor leads that are too close together. The ultra-thin insulation has dielectric constant of less than two.
