Building for global warming
Article Abstract:
Global warming should influence architects in two ways. Firstly, buildings should be designed to reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses and secondly, they should be designed to contend with a changing climate and weather conditions. The two may sometimes be incompatible. Climate change is likely to bring more storms, flooding, hotter summers and wetter winters to the UK. These factors should influence the location, foundations, roofing, drainage, heating and ventilation and maintenance of buildings.
