Nig ria Le march des produits pharmaceutiques
Article Abstract:
The French Trade Commission in Lagos has produced a 38-page document on the pharmaceutical products in Nigeria. The pharmaceutical sector has been hard-hit by the country's economic recession since 1990. In the pharmaceutical sector, this recession has resulting in a pull-out by foreign co-shareholders, and a drop in domestic demand due to a sharp devaluation of the currency. Because of this situation and unaffordable prices charged by local companies, the black market and counterfeit products market have grown greatly and continue to increase every year. The government has intervened since the end of 1994 in order to support the pharmaceutical sector with the creation of the Special Petrol Fund (PTF) designed to subsidise local demand. Thanks to this fund, local companies have ordered US$ 60mn worth of medications in 1996, in order to restock public hospitals. A larger amount is said to have been allocated for the purchase of medications for public hospitals in 1997.

Article Abstract:
The French Trade Commission in Phnom Penh has issued a 21-page text on the veterinary products market in Cambodia. The market is a small one in Cambodia, with an estimated value of less than US$ 1mn, despite fact that cattle raising represented 11.3% of the country's GDP in 1997. Cattle raising is mainly an unqualified family operation which uses traditional methods, which largely explains why the veterinary product market is so small. According to forecasts, the veterinary product market is expected to develop rapidly in the years to come, mainly because of an increase in cattle raising. On this market, nearly all veterinary products are imported, the market is not organised, the distribution network is fragmented, and copies and fake products are widespread.

Article Abstract:
The French Trade Commission in Kuwait has issued a 24-page document on the medical market in Kuwait. The medical market is highly developed in Kuwait, with a level of care that is now comparable to that in Western countries. The Ministry of Health provides all Kuwait residents with free health care. Kuwait is also the leading purchases for medical and surgical equipment and pharmaceutical products. However, the Kuwait authorities appear to increasingly encourage the private sector to invest in the health domain; this is part of a policy for reducing budget expenditures.
