Sanyo Electric's loss narrows, but outlook darkens

Sanyo Electric Co. of Japan announced that losses decreased for the first half but will increase for the entire year. Posted net losses of 3.62 billion Yen ($31.3 million) from a loss of $142.53 billion Yen last year. A restructuring plan may be coming into effect with a trimming of product lines.

DSG, Next issue warnings as holidays disappoint

UK consumer electronics firm DSG International PLC and clothing company Next PLC reported poor outlooks for 2008 resulting from lower than expected holiday sales. In London trading, DSG shares dropped 27% to reach 78 pence, while Next shares declined 6.8% to reach 15.52 pounds sterling.
