North meets south
Article Abstract:
Sinn Fein has cabinet posts in the new government of Northern Ireland, and is involved in the North South ministerial council, linking the new government with that of Ireland. Sinn Fein hopes to have ministers in Ireland as well as Northern Ireland, and its popularity in Ireland has been aided by the ceasefire. This move by Sinn Fein represents a change int he party's views, since it previously would not accept the Irish state as legitimate, or the idea of an assembly for Northern Ireland.
