Online travel agency prepares for takeoff, thanks to web pro

A joint venture between Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Quantas Airways, and eight other airlines will offer online travel services. Travel Exchange Asia will compete with other online travel agencies such as Priceline, Travelocity, Expedia, Kokunaisen.com, and Orbitz. Pascal Bordat, chief executive officer of Travel Exchange Asia, will create the website.

Airline unions in the region find their power is checked

Pilots unions in the Asian region have recently found it difficult to win disputes with airlines, which are backed by national governments. Some unions have won small concessions, only to have them taken away at a later date. Article reviews some recent union efforts at airlines including Cathay Pacific Airways, Japan Airlines, Japan Air System, Asiana Airlines, etc.
