PP has set up its own distribution network

Plzensky Prazdroj (PP) (Plzen, Czech Republic), Pilsner Urquell brewing company, plans to sell over 5 mil hl of beer in 1998. PP together with 83 distribution firms sold 2.5 mil hl of beer in the Czech Republic in 1995. The firm increased its sales due to setting up its own distribution network, which cost 600-700 mil Kc. PP had bad experience with distribution companies. Currently, PP has distribution centres in Brno, Hradec Kralove, Teplice, Karlovy Vary, Domazlice, Ceske Budejovice, Prague, Ostrava, Plzen, Zlin, Olomouc, Jihlava and Turnov, all in the Czech Republic. The company has large warehouses in Prague, Karlovy Vary, Teplice, Domazlice, Ceske Budejovice and Brno.

Ulmer technik (UT) (Mokre Lazy, Czech Republic), supplier of systems for purpose-made machines, has seen an increase in the number of its consumers. The firm had about 150 consumers in 1997. The company's important consumers are the car companies Skoda Auto (Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic) and Volkswagen Bratislava (Bratislava, Slovakia). UT saw a turnover of 36 mil Kc in 1997. The firm has 20 employees. UT has been operating in the Czech Republic since January 1995. The firm is a wholly-owned subsidiary of an Austrian partner.

Mlekarna Kunin (MK) (Czech Republic), milk products firm, is purchasing 370,000 lt of milk per day currently compared to 80,000 lt per day in 1992. The firm also processes milk at its new cheese plant in Zasova, the Czech Republic. MK commissioned the former milk products plant in Martinov, the Czech Republic, in December 1998. The plant is focused on dessert and cottage cheese production. The company's turnover increased by 40% after the completion of a propagation campaign.
