Campaign fodder: economy is the key election issue
Article Abstract:
Economic concerns are dominating the 1993 elections in Pakistan, a country where elections are usually associated with parades, not economic speeches. Other aspects of the elections considered unique by Pakistani standards include the rival camps of the Bhutto family, who have traditionally dominated the People's Party, and a lack of notable electoral alliances between parties. There are 40 parties involved in the election, with no clear front-runners.
