Idaho is experiencing an impressive economic growth period following its recession. Job growth is at 5.8% a year, and the economic boom is taking place in several industries. Idaho's conservatism is an obstacle to solving certain problems, such as water shortage and education.

Paradise dimmed: city planning
Article Abstract:
Portland has green belts, good mass transit and is pedestrian-friendly. A great deal of rural areas surrounds the city, and the state has a wine district. Unfortunately, population growth is stressing Portland's Urban Growth Boundary.
