Pine Bluff prepares for disposal
Article Abstract:
There are plans to dispose of chemical weapons at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, Arkansas. Raytheon has won the contract to build the incinerator, but permits have yet to arrive from the Department of Pollution Control and Ecology. There is concern about risks from natural disasters such as tornadoes, as well as from leaks and deterioration. Critics argue that the chemicals should be mixed with agents to make them less dangerous, but the army argues that land mines and rockets should be incinerated.
