Piranesi offers media-rendering as controlled as you want it
Article Abstract:
Piranesi 2.0 interactive 3D painting software from Informatix presents designers with a interactive 3D painting environment. It makes it possible to paint on surfaces within special 2D files as if painting on a real model. It uses material and depth information to create images, and it is therefore worth spending some time to get things right in 3D. It is then possible for models to be flat-shaded and exported to be painted. There are a number of additions, including the Image Navigation system, which makes it much easier to work on large files.

ArchiCAD 6.5: taking a design favourite into a new dimension
Article Abstract:
Graphisoft's ArchiCAD 6.5 develops the concept of using a fully integrated 3D environment to design and visualize a building. It is able to reference external files using hot-linked modules, and also has improved DXF/DWG-conversion options with full support for Xrefs. Rendering remains basic, permitting simple Phong-shaded views of 3D models. This version of ArchiCAD offers full cross-platform functionality for both MacOS and Windows platforms.

Viz grows up
Article Abstract:
The 1,495 pounds sterling Kinetix 3D Studio Viz graphics software is one of the most usable AutoCAD visualization tool available to architects. Three-dimensional drawings can be built up using several different layers, which can be peeled away to allow architects to work on separate parts of the project. Shading, object reference and lighting allow architects to portray a realistic representation of the finished structure.
