Planning aid as CPD
Article Abstract:
The West Midlands Planning Aid is providing local authority planning departments with continuing professional development (CPD) seminars aimed at supplying an understanding of CPD. Planning aid as CPD opens the planning system to community groups and gives them access to free professional independent advice on town planning. Planning aid volunteers improve their knowledge of local authority planning, see the users' view of planning, and attend public hearings as third party witnesses. The West Midlands

Article Abstract:
The London School of Economics will from Sep 1998 run an Msc programme in City Design and Social Science. The main aim of this course will be to teach designers and social scientists to think in wider terms, thus allowing them to address the most important urban issues. Students will also be encouraged to appreciate the interdependence of social and spatial form. They will be obliged to complete optional courses within the social-science departments of the London School of Economics.

Article Abstract:
The Vision for London programme is forming the framework for the 'Drawing on London' urban design project, being jointly organised by the RIBA and The Architects' Journal. It will run on Mar 13-15, 1992, and will cover 11 groups of around 10 students each, along with five practising architects. Each group will be allocated a piece of unused land near the RIBA headquarters, and will have to develop proposals for the site.
