Planning for the countryside
Article Abstract:
A report on the UK countryside and its future sees reform of the EC's Common Agricultural Policy as one necessary step. Integrated planning for the environment, the rural economy and the social aspects of change in the countryside are seen as necessary. There will be changes in the rural economy and those living there will have to diversity their activities. Environmental aspects of the countryside and its future are also seen as important.

Potsdam-a recent impression; how planning is developing in a city until recently in East Germany
Article Abstract:
Towns in the former east Germany have been twinned with west German towns to help unite the two former countries. Potsdam has been twinned with Bonn. As in many former eastern towns Potsdam is suffering from industrial pollution and decay. The planning authorities are drawing up detailed maps to show which areas can be developed and the nature of the development. Difficulties are occurring as land ownership in many cases is under dispute.
