Planting Indonesia's seeds of change
Article Abstract:
Indonesia appears to be truly adopting the necessary measures required to transform from a nation internationally recognized for its corruption and shadowy business transactions to a more transparent, more democratic state with accountability in government. Whoever becomes president of Indonesia will certainly be different from Suharto. If he and other Indonesian leaders are honest, then they will win back foreign investors and emerge a stronger nation than the one Suharto built and subsequently destroyed.

Indonesian power project secures financing package
Article Abstract:
Indonesian firm PT Jawa Power is scheduled to start construction of its 610-megawatt coal-powered project at the Javan district of Paiton. The company has been able to secure around $1.7 billion in financing pledges from export credit firms and commercial banks. Jawa Power is a private firm that counts among its shareholders a division of Siemens AG and a company run by one of Pres. Suharto's sons.

'Black Diamond' left Indonesia in the rough
Article Abstract:
The late Ibnu Sutowo, former president of Indonesian national oil company Pertamina, is credited with helping to modernize Indonesia by creating a large holding company from the state's oil monopoly. Sutowo's massive spending and borrowing accumulated debts which nearly bankrupted the country.
