Poland's AmerBank talks to German, other investors

AmerBank SA, a Poland-based bank specializing in foreign-exchange transactions for corporate customers, is negotiating with two Germany-based banks: Bayerische Landesbank-Girozentrale, and Deutsche Genossenschaftsbank AG (DG Bank) of Frankfurt, which are interested in purchasing shares in AmerBank's capital increase. Bayerische Landesbank wants to acquire 33% of AmerBank while DG Bank wants over 33%. AmerBank Deputy President Wlodsimerz Paszkowski, however, said the firm is also currently negotiating with two other interested investors, one of which is a Scandinavian bank.

UBS is seeking full ownership in LTCB deal

UBS AG, a banking company based in Switzerland, is negotiating to buy the shares owned by Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan in their investment-banking joint venture, LTCB Warburg Securities Ltd., for an undisclosed amount. UBS, which together with an unnamed minority partner, currently control two-thirds of LTCB Warburg, will own 100% of the joint venture once a deal is completed. A spokesperson for UBS declined to give details of the transaction, saying only that an agreement is expected to be finalized soon.
