Privatization in the Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
Privatization programs can be grouped into two approaches: gradual transition programs and the more radical 'shock therapy' techniques. Both approaches have inherent advantages and disadvantages which make any decision regarding the type of approach to adopt a difficult choice requiring intense scrutiny. The Czech government's privatization program incorporates features from both approaches and although success has been modest at best, it is still too early to judge whether the Czech privatization model is more effective than traditional methods.
