Consumer spending in Europe during 1999 is expected to be fueled by low interest rates and local demand from Europeans on the household product market. Germany's consumer spending market is forecast to increase by 2.1% during 1999, with a further 2.4% increase in the year 2000. A 3% growth in French consumer spending is being forecast for 1999, while the UK economy is expecting consumer spending increases of 2.6% in the year 2000. Spanish consumer spending is forecast to increase by 3%during 1999.
