ISRO DEVELOPS DIGITAL SYSTEM TO REPLACE EXTANT ANALOG
Article Abstract:
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has developed a satellite based digital sound and data broadcast (DSDB) system to cater to various emerging applications. The DSDB technology can replace the analog system by providing a digital radio network for distributing CD music and other audio programmes. The present network of All India Radio uses the analog system for distributing programmes to radio stations for regional re- broadcasting. DSDB can replace this system to better the quality and service of All India Radio. DSDB also has applications in distance education, audio networking, news distribution, disaster management and the Internet and multimedia networking. (tsm)
