Consumer spending in Taiwan is soaring, and some economists believe that the bullish equity prices could help boost GDP growth, if maintained through the third quarter. However others believe that the lack of improvement in private investment, slow exports and flat public spending, will prevent a strong recovery. The property market has stayed weak, according to some analysts, because of the government's conflicting policies.
