Reebok Stadium, Bolton
Article Abstract:
Roof subcontractor Hathaway's own roof system proved good value for money for the new Reebok stadium for Bolton Wanderers Football Club, according to architectural firm LOBB Sports Architecture's Derek Wilson. He does not have concerns about the design and build approach, and does not feel that it is important that in a design build contract the architect is not always directly involved with the final choice of materials. He welcomes the fact that main contractor Birse Construction was determined to produce a high quality building.

Steel- it's the real thing
Article Abstract:
Steel is an ideal material for construction use because it is quick and cheap to deliver and put up, although it is often covered up by cladding because of fire protection. Steel designers are researching the possibility of producing a fire proof steel curtain walling which would reduce the risk of fire and allow more steel to be visible in buildings. The affects of weather are also being researched to ascertain the behaviour of materials when exposed to different aspects of the weather.
