A network approach to alliance management
Article Abstract:
The majority of management tools assume that a company acts autonomously, but this view is increasingly inadequate in a network economy. The network perspective needs a different view on strategy, alliance management and the role of top management. A network management perspective is proposed whereby individual alliances are viewed as part of a wider picture of network relationships. To meet the demands of the network perspective certain tools are necessary, including portfolio analysis, partner programmes and databases.
