Rise of 'free PC' offers improves prospects for Trigem

TriGem Computer Inc of Ansan-Shi, South Korea, is benefiting from the impact of a campaign to give free personal computers in the US. The company is the 51%-owner and main supplier of California-based eMachines, the US company that is emerging as the top US supplier of low-cost computers. TriGem, which is producing 300,000 units of the machines as of Jul 1999, is benefiting from the offer by America Online (AOL) to refund the cost of eMachines computer owners who enter into a three-year agreement with AOL.

Study: small businesses no goldmine for PC marketers
Article Abstract:
The Banner Computer Readership Survey (BCRS) found that the potential of small businesses for personal computer and software markets is not as big as some manufacturers thought. 65% of the small businesses surveyed have less than $8,000 per annum to invest in computer hardware and software. The survey also found that over 60% of small business managers do not reach computer magazines. However 6.5% of small businesses are using the Internet and others have plans to use it.
