MARUBENI TO EXPAND INDIAN OPERATIONS

Marubeni, a trading firm of Japan, plans to increase the range of operations of its 100 percent subsidiary, Marubeni India Pvt Ltd, to include investing in infrastructure projects. It plans to execute projects on a turnkey basis apart from procuring and supplying equipment. It is also seeking permission to represent products and services of other foreign companies in India. The company also plans to set up showrooms, warehouses and service centres in India. (khr)

HAYES INCREASES STAKE IN KALAYANI LEMMERZ TO 85%

Hayes Lemmerz International of the US has hiked its stake in Kalyani Lemmerz Ltd which is its joint venture with the Kalyani group of Pune. Hayes has increased its stake by 60 percent to 85 percent. Kalyani Lemmerz Ltd (KLL) manufactures steel automotive wheels for heavy and other vehicles. The plant located at Chakan near Pune has an installed capacity of 450,000 steel wheels. It is planning to enhance capacity to one million steel wheels.(uh)
