SUN PHARMA SHIFTS EXPORT BUSINESS TO SUNKALP LABS
Article Abstract:
Sun Pharmaceuticals (SP) transferred its entire business of Sun Pharma Exports (SPE) to Sunkalp Laboratories (SL), a 100 percent subsidiary of SP from May 12, 1998. SPE now ceases to exist and SL will be called Sun Pharma Exports. In the first quarter of 1998-99, SP recorded 28 percent increase in its sales and 31 percent rise in net profit. Between May 12 and June 30, 1998, SPE made a net profit of Rs2.71 crore. AB ELECTROLUX TO BRING ALL GROUP COS UNDER ONE HEAD

AB Electrolux of Sweden has planned to group all its companies in India under a joint venture umbrella company that it proposes to set up with Voltas. Electrolux AB has three joint ventures in India, out of which it has a controlling stake in two. It holds over 51 percent in Maharaja International, a refrigerator manufacturer, and about 74 percent in Intron Ltd, a producer of washing machines. It also holds a 40 percent stake in Eureka Forbes, a producer of water purifiers and vacuum cleaners. All these companies are to come under the umbrella joint venture, which is likely to be named as Electrolux Voltas Ltd. (khr)

ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS OPENS SECOND JV IN INDIA

Illinois Tool Works Inc (ITW) of the US has opened its second joint venture in India called ITW Jeju Industries Pvt Ltd at Sanaswadi near Pune. The joint venture with Jejuplast Ltd will produce plastic components for the Indian automobile and appliance segments. ITW holds a 51 percent stake in the venture while Jejuplast Ltd holds a 40 percent stake. (khr)
