Scania net soars as demand rises for heavy trucks

First-quarter net profit for truck manufacturer Scania AB rose 44% to $312.5 mil, with sales increasing by 11% and stocks by 4.8%. Results were driven by strong demand in Central and Eastern Europe. Company officials however had no comment regarding a possible merger with Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nurnberg (MAN) AG.
