Scheduling under a common due-date on parallel unrelated machines
Article Abstract:
The problem of independent job set scheduling on parallel unrelated processors under a simultaneous due date was evaluated in light of the increasing significance of due-date determination problems as just-in-time philosophy gains importance in industry. A heuristic was created to address the NP-Hard problem. Results from comparison of the developed heuristic to randomly generated V-sequences revealed the adequacy of the method.

Hierarchical production planning in a make-to-order company: a case study
Article Abstract:
A complex production planning problem in a make-to-order organization is analyzed using a hierarchical model based on discretized planning horizons. The model is applied as a decision support system which is especially designed to consider the multiple participants which take part in the planning process. The approach, the techniques used and developed algorithms are presented and discussed.
