Article Abstract:
John Paxton's Crystal Palace at Sydenham is a giant greenhouse at Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, exhibited until 18 April 2004 remained viable for decades as a visitor attraction. The second Crystal Palace was built with the materials of the original and it displays the Fine Arts Courts that housed huge reconstructions of buildings of past ages and cultures.

Building with the best of both worlds
Article Abstract:
The benefits of hybrid concrete construction (HCC), described as 'dream ticket', of combining precast and in situ construction are widely appreciated but due to the lack of comprehensive guidance the take up was slow. However, the on-site construction of HCC is fast and efficient which is the reward for the effort in working up highly coordinated designs.
