Seeking new ways to present architecture
Article Abstract:
The Diller and Scofidio exhibition entitled The Desiring Eye: ReViewing the Slow House, held at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham during Mar. 1996, uses video and installation contemporary artwork to illustrate architectural design in new and interesting ways. The exhibition focuses on the design of a house next to the ocean in the United States, and uses a number of texts, visual aids on 24 skeletal metal lecterns to display the image of the design from all perspectives for the viewer.

Design for the cultural sector
Article Abstract:
Cooperation between architects and artists is facing a new challenge during the renovation of a Grade II listed building in Birmingham, England, into The Ikon art gallery. Within the group responsible for the design plans is the artist Tania Kovats who not only looks at the space defined for art display but is influential over the whole project. Due to the conditions set out for funds awarded from the Lottery such collaborative ventures will be more common in the future.

Tatsuo Miyajima: Big Time
Article Abstract:
Big Time is the first British survey of the work of Japanese artist Tatsuo Miyajima at the Hayward Gallery in London. The exhibition features work involving light emitting digital counters and darkness. The exhibits include Time Go Round, Running Time and Time in Blue. Running Time features gliding counters, and Time in Blue features simple benches to encourage contemplation.
