Death in Venice: California ducks

Despite warnings of an epidemic by state and Audubon Society officials, Venice, California environmentalists blockaded state attempts to exterminate ducks infected with virus enteritis. The lifting of the ban resulted in mass citizen smugglings of birds to a Kern County refuge and to backyards.

The execution of Blair, a convicted murderer, was stayed three times until May 17, 1993. Blair, the ninth person to be executed in Missouri since the death penalty was reintroduced, was killed by lethal injection on Jul 21, 1993. The events surrounding his death are detailed.
