Sikorsky's big gamble
Article Abstract:
Sikorsky Aircraft has introduced its S-92 helicopter, which uses lightweight semi-monocoque aluminium for its airframe and composite materials for the cockpit roof, nose section, cargo ramp area, upper deck structure, sponsons, and fin and tail-plane leading edges. Sikorsky anticipates an expanding international market for its S-92 helicopter, estimating that it will sell over 5,000 medium-weight aircraft. But it expects more conservative sales in the civil aviation industry for the S-92C helicopter.

HAL pursues new markets
Article Abstract:
Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) has introduced a model of its proposed light observation helicopter (LOH). The model is aimed to replace the HAL Cheetah with the Indian military. Its design scales down the ALH forward fuselage and rotor system, using some common parts, and features a fenestron-style tail unit based on that of the Eurocopter SA365N3. It can carry up to six passengers with gross take-off weight of 2600 kg.
