Slovnaft strengthens sales and distribution
Article Abstract:
Slovnaft (Bratislava, Slovakia), petrochemical company, plans to invest in the sales and distribution of its products from 2001. The company has ended its big investment boom, having invested nearly USD 1 bn in the past few years. Most of the sum went to the construction of an EFPA deep petroleum processing unit, which has an 80% efficiency. In 2000 Slovnaft had an 80% share in the total fuel sales in Slovakia. As the Slovak market is too small for its production, in 2000 the company exported 66% of its output to 32 countries. About 38% of the exports went to the Czech Republic, 18.4% to Austria, 12.3% to Poland and 9.9% to Hungary. Slovnaft has a 30% share on the diesel fuel market and a 20% share on the petrol market in the Czech Republic. The company expects a profit of SOK 4 bn in 2001. In 2000 it generated a gross profit of SOK 3.01 bn on a turnover of SOK 69.99 bn. In 2000 Slovnaft had a 36% stake acquired by the petrochemical and gas concern MOL (Hungary).
