Slump spurs buyer cutbacks; discount offers gain attention in Thailand

The current slump afflicting the Thai economy is having an adverse impact on consumer spending. According to a survey conducted by advertising agency Damask/BBDO, 52% respondents say the economic slowdown is affecting their spending by 'a fair amount,' while 24% say 'a lot.' Consumers have also become more price-conscious, with 35% of respondents saying they have switched brands due to price differences. More than half believe it will take over a year to fix the economy, while 32% say the process may take several years.
