Societe Generale in talks on unit sale

Societe Generale SA of France is negotiating with a potential buyer of its asset-management division in the US. Jean-Marie Eveillard, head of the New York-based Societe Generale Asset Management Corp., stated that a decision could be reached within the next few days. Societe Generale's asset-management unit, which comprises four funds that target retail investors, manages a combined assets of $5.5 billion. The largest of the unit's four funds is the SocGen International Fund, which manages $4 billion in assets and had a yearly average return of 10.2% over the past five years.
