An investigation into illegal mutual fund trading by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer is not expected to bring about stricter regulations in the United Kingdom. Spitzer's probe does have issues that are relevant to the U.K.'s retail fund supervision.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will allow mutual funds to advertise results that are more up-to-date. However, these advertisers must update their results every month and show them online to investors.

Germany set to allow hedge funds
